International Women's Day - my scoliosis story

The 8 March 2021 is International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

Marked annually on 8th March, International Women's Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:

  • celebrate women's achievements

  • raise awareness about women's equality

  • lobby for accelerated gender parity

  • fundraise for female-focused charities

You can read more about how This Girl Can and Active Suffolk are celebrating women's achievements today. The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2021 is 'Choose To Challenge'. A challenged world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change. So let's all #ChooseToChallenge.

This Girl Can Suffolk Ambassadors have shared their stories detailing how they have shown their commitment to challenge inequality, question stereotypes and help to create an inclusive world for all.

One of the stories being featured is my own challenge of having scoliosis, curvature of the spine. My scoliosis was identified when I was 5 years old through a test at school. Although I struggle with back pain and there are some activities I can't do, I have never let my scoliosis hold me back in life. You can read my full story here.
